PROJECT SCHEDULE

The KIH Project will be delivered through a staged approach consisting of Stage 1 and Stage 2 along with a pilot study. This approach allows work in the southern portion of the inner harbour (Stage 1) to proceed in the near term while additional studies are completed to refine the design for the more ecologically sensitive northern areas, including species-at-risk turtle habitat and important overwintering areas. A pilot study is planned for 2028 within a northern water lot to evaluate wildlife salvage techniques and assess the effects of dredging and sediment amendments on ecosystem recovery. Lessons learned from the pilot study, together with ongoing data collection, will inform Stage 2 design and implementation. Physical works for the pilot study and Stage 1 (southern areas) are anticipated between 2028 and 2030, while Stage 2 (central and northern areas) is expected to be implemented between 2031 and 2035.
